El Yaque is well known worldwide for its national and international events like the WILD WIND regatta which is carried out during the month of June, assembling participant from all latitudes. Brazilians, Canadians, Argentines, Peruvians, Bolivians, Americans, Portuguese, Frenchmen, Germans and Colombian just to name some of the nationalities that arrives year after year, increasing the followers of this magnificent event. The geographical location of El Yaque beach allows the east western breeze slip parallel to the coast causing a natural wind acceleration owed to the thermal effect of the water level at only 1,5 meters depth in its first 300 meters of longitude. This fact, combined with the effects produced by a chain of mountains located at the north creates a circuit of acceleration wind of an average force 4 Bft+.
