GRAN HOTEL COSTA RICA
This architecture jewel was born in 1930 as a necessity to offer high standard accommodations to upscale visitors during San Jose’s commercial development. The building style was inspired in the European neoclassical period to maintain the urban designs of the city and the line of the National Theater from across the street, an architectural masterpiece.
In 2005 after long inactive years and many remodeling works, the Government of Costa Rica officially declared this hotel as a National Architecture and Historic Heritage. Nowadays, the Gran Hotel is a silent witness of the San Jose City history over the years and walking through its halls and rooms is to hear the history telling.
